„DECLARATION OF IMMORTALITY” PROVES THE BEST ROCK CLIMBING FILM OF VIMFF

On 18th February the 15th edition of Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival (VIMFF) came to an end. The only Polish film in the competition – “Declaration of immortality” by Marcin Koszałka was awarded one of the main festival's awards.

This documentary shot and directed by Marcin Koszałka was awarded 'Best Rock Climbing Film' by the festival’s Jury on Saturday night. The main protagonist of the “Declaration of immortality” is Piotr “Mad” Korczak. The director focuses on the decline of the career of this great master, provoking his reflection on his future life, when he will no longer be able to climb. It’s a moving story about inability to come to terms with getting older and about a desire of immortality.

The first edition of the VIMFF was held in 1998 and a year after that apart from the film  programmes the festival started to host a number of additional events  such as meetings, workshops or rock climbing competition to name just a few. After 2001 the diversity of the programming was also enhanced, providing more films and presenters with topics on environmental issues, mountain culture and adventure travel. VIMFF is currently the second after Banff biggest and most important mountain film festival in Canada.

More information on festival can be found at the official VIMFF website
